April means… spring cleaning time! When you own and manage a vacation home rental, you better make sure you love cleaning. You do a lot of it, even if you have great housekeepers like we do. Nobody sees what you see. Personally, I love cleaning and the immediate gratification it gives you. It’s also great for the mind and soul.

All that scrubbing, sweeping, and mopping is good exercise too, even if you personally aren’t drawn to the thrill of cleaning alone. But there’s nothing better than living in a clean, fresh, great smelling environment – especially when spring finally hits!

When I clean, I try to use things that are good for the environment. I look for products that are hypoallergenic and organic. Method, Greenworks, Meyers, and Seventh Generation are all great companies. Good Housekeeping and Apartment Therapy have some good in-depth lists. Alternatively, you can make your own natural cleaning products using vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, and olive oil!
