Time for a little update! Here’s a peek at our freshly renovated kitchen in the Studio cottage. It was quite a labor of love — the whole renovation took about 8 days and 2 months of prep. Word to the wise: due to COVID, productivity and shipping takes a lot more time than it used to. So be sure to leave yourself plenty of lee-way. Also, doing any kind of a renovation is like a Pandora’s box. You never know what you’ll find, so plan and prepare. For a little space, it was a really big job! Here’s the new kitchen, next is the old.
Our main intention was to upgrade all the appliances. One thing kept leading to another and we ended up having to change all the electric and plumbing. The biggest overhauls were swapping out the old oven and refrigerator. In place of the previous oven and stove, we installed a Summit oven and sleek new stovetop. This Bronx-based appliance brand is perfect for small spaces.
For the new refrigerator, we used a Galanz fridge and freezer. Galanz is one of my favorite brands! We’ve just installed a Galanz fridge in the Casita in Topanga too.
It was time to replace the previous sink, too, with a new stainless steel sink and brushed nickel faucet. We also had a custom-made counter top put in to tie it all together.
A romantic cafe table, chairs with comfy cushions and a handsome raffia rug were the finishing touches. Incorporating some of your favorite design elements makes a house a home.
