Last year, all I wanted for Christmas was my first pair of SNOW Shoes!! I actually got two pairs. One for me and one for my husband. Now snowshoeing is one of my outdoor passions!
There are so many brands to choose from and it can be a little bewildering. Do a search and you’ll see what I mean. After loads of research, I decided on Tubbs Frontier. Bottomline reason? They are lightweight with an aluminum frame. Great easy binding and efficient performance.
Sizes can vary so check the size chart. We got 21″ and 25″ Two different sizes for different snow depth and patterns. You might also want to get a pair of polls with your order. I like using polls especially when it’s icy.
Trekking or running is so fun! Especially in deep snow. What a freeing feeling to be out in the wilderness! Our pup Lulu loves it too!
Get out of that January funk with some fun, healthy snowshoeing! Snowshoeing in Lake Placid is a workout with a view.
Lake Placid has tons of scenic trails to choose from. Nye Mountain, Cobble Hill, Peninsula Nature Trails, and Algonquin Peak are a short drive from the cottages. There are even more trails to choose from throughout the Adirondacks.
Wearing snowshoes also makes it safer for everyone enjoying Lake Placid’s trails. Otherwise you can posthole, which means you plunge into the snow and create holes that other skiers or hikers could fall into. And it’s safer for you too! I would recommend MSR’s snowshoes.
So come by Lake Placid and strap on your snowshoes for a workout you won’t forget.
