Ah, there’s nothing like fresh mountain air! If you like a bit of an adrenaline rush, then this autumn is the perfect time to start rock climbing the Adirondacks! This region is home to 46 peaks and Lake Placid takes pride in the High Peaks. We have some of the most beautiful climbing views in the Northeast. Along with traditional climbing, you can try mountaineering and backcountry cragging.
Some of the most popular Adirondack routes are Henderson Cliff, Avalanche Pass, Gothics, Noonmark, and Rooster Comb.
If you’re in nearby Keene Valley, check out Chapel Pond Slab, the Beer Walls, Upper and Lower Washbowl, Creature Wall, Spanky’s Wall, and the Spider’s Web. Rock climbing routes in our region of Upstate New York offer plenty of variety in degrees of difficulty (and colorful names). But you’ll be rewarded with stunning views no matter which challenge you take on.
High Peaks Mountain Guides offer rock climbing tours, which are great for both beginners and more seasoned climbers. And Adirondack Rock is also a handy, comprehensive guide for all the climbing the region has to offer.
So come to the Adirondacks and start exploring. GO-Cottage is a fabulous home base! And let us know how your next rock climbing adventures go!
