Summer is the best season to go kayaking and enjoy the fresh air, water and sunlight!
I got obsessed with kayaking last summer, when I went for my first time ever on Mirror Lake. Here’s a video of that experience!
Mirror Lake is relatively small, so we soon ventured onto a much bigger body of water, the great Lake Placid.
We spent five hours one day paddling around the perimeter of Lake Placid, starting from the Mirror Lake side! It was such a beautiful day and we got to relax while taking in the huge cliffs.
Kayaking is pretty simple to learn as the boat is very light and easy to maneuver. It’s about 35 pounds or so and you can sit deep in the boat rather than on top of it. I love the way it feels gliding effortlessly in the water.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s total freedom – it’s like you’re flying over the water.
I would love to try ocean kayaking in California, though I am a little afraid of sharks! 😉
