Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to get in gear… ski gear that is! Skiing is the perfect way to get fresh air and take in peaceful scenery while starting in on your healthy New Year’s resolutions.

Lake Placid is wonderful for skiing. We’re home to both Whiteface Mountain for downhill skiing and Mt. Van Hoevenberg for cross-country skiing.

If you need some extra motivation for hitting the slopes, how about some shiny new ski gear? One of my favorite shops here is High Peaks Cyclery. They have a great selection of ski wear and the owner, Brian Delaney is super helpful. If you go in tell him GO-Cottage sent you! I just got some new items myself!

My favorite skis are these Rossignol Cross Country Skis.

As for boots, I like these Back Country ski boots by Alpina.

Gloves are a must out there, and my favorites for cross-country skiing are from a brand called Toko.

To top it all off, you need a great hat while out skiing. We’re Swix fans at GO-Cottage – their beanies are cute, warm, and affordable.

With the long weekends coming up, it’s the perfect time to come skiing in Lake Placid. And sometimes the best part of a ski trip is getting cozy after a long day on the slopes. We still have availability in the Cottages for Presidents’ Day Weekend, so start planning and book now!
