Nowhere does fall beer quite like the village of Lake Placid! I’ve traveled the world, from Hong Kong to Lake Tahoe, and the best beer I’ve ever had is right in the heart of Lake Placid, NY. They brew it here by hand! I personally love IPAs and Pale Ales. If you like your beer hoppy, I can tell you that this is your place. Try it at the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery.
It’s no surprise that Lake Placid is home to several beer-centric events this fall. The annual Whiteface Mountain Oktoberfest is October 1st and 2nd this year. While this Bavarian celebration is closely associated with brews, there are plenty of activities (and food!) for everyone.
The Cloudspitter Gondola Rides to the top of Whiteface Mountain are especially great for taking in Lake Placid’s gorgeous autumn scenery. There are also kids’ crafts and mazes, and live music and dancing.
Come back to town for another hoppy celebration: the Lake Placid Brewfest on October 15th. It’s a chance to sample the best beers from around the country and also talk to the brewers and beer experts themselves. Last year, over 50 breweries participated. So talk about a beer education!
In the meantime, here are some lists for the best IPAs and Pale Ales. Enjoy!
