Get out of that February funk with some fun, healthy snowshoeing! Snowshoeing in Lake Placid is a workout with a view.
Lake Placid has tons of scenic trails to choose from. Nye Mountain, Cobble Hill, Peninsula Nature Trails, Algonquin Peak, and Owls Head are a short drive from the cottages.
(Owls Head is equally gorgeous in the spring and fall – it’s one of our favorites!) There are even more trails to choose from throughout the Adirondacks.
Wearing snowshoes also makes it safer for everyone enjoying Lake Placid’s trails. Otherwise you can posthole, which means you plunge into the snow and create holes that other skiers or hikers could fall into. And it’s safer for you too! I would recommend MSR’s snowshoes.
For you serious snowshoers, the World Snowshoe Championships come to Saranac Lake February 24 and 25. You can still register for the 10K Open World Championship or the 5K Junior World Championship if you’re 19 years old or younger.
So come by Lake Placid and strap on your snowshoes for a workout you won’t forget.
