We are very hopeful that Lake Placid’s annual Loppet will resume this year at Mt Van Hoevenberg! The event’s organizers are actively looking at options to allow Loppet to go ahead in March after a year’s hiatus. So grab your skis and mark your calendar for Saturday, March 13th.
The Loppet and Kort-Loppet run on a modified version of the 50km course for the 1980 Winter Olympics. They’re your chance to follow in the footsteps (or skis) of Olympians! The Loppet is a full 50km and the Kort-Loppet is 25km. There are also shorter Citizen’s Challenge Races, at 12.5km, 6km, and 3km.
As a unique Lake Placid tradition, the Loppet is a must-attend. We hope you’ll join us and stay at GO-Cottage!
Mt Van Hoe is still open for skiing, so in the event Loppet is postponed another year, you can make your very own Loppet with friends and family!
