Dog-Friendly Skiing and Hiking Trails in Lake Placid, NY

Lake Placid is one of my favorite places in the USA to ski, hike, and run with my dog.

Three dog-friendly trails come to mind right off the bat: Henry’s Woods, John Brown Farm and Heaven Hill. For snowier times there is also the Jackrabbit Trail.

There’s really nothing like taking your dog out on these trails. They’re peaceful, quiet, the air is fresh, and occasionally you run into other folks with their dogs. Then it’s a giant dog party! Most of the people and dogs are very friendly too.

Dogs have a way of creating happiness, warmth and love amongst people. I think we need our dogs for this purpose. To break down our humans barriers. After all, we all want the same things: happiness, companionship and love. Dogs are that incarnate! I really can’t imagine my life without a dog.

It’s best to leash your dog, but if they are familiar with the trails and trustworthy enough, you can let them run off-leash. There are the normal rules, of course – you have to pick up after them. All the trails are equipped with doggy bags. It’s the right thing to do and if you love your dog, you can deal with her droppings 😉

Of course, there are the other critters and animals that live in the woods. 99% percent of the time we never see any other than a bird or rabbit but, rest assured, they are there. There’s always a risk but just seeing how happy our dog is worth every minute! What a joy!

Check out these trails the next time you visit the Adirondacks. You’ll be very glad you did!

I just want to congratulate you on the exquisite job you did on the Cottages! Did I mention how dreamy the beds are? I had my best night's sleep in weeks. Ahhhhh Oh my god! I just want to move in today. You have such lovely taste. It has such a peaceful aura. We all had a wonderful stay. Thank you again.
