Who’s ready for a hike? The Adirondacks offer thousands of miles of hiking trails!
In Lake Placid, Henry’s Woods is one of my favorite trails since it’s so convenient – just an 8 minute walk from the cottage. And you can either go on a 3 mile hike or a 5 mile hike.
It’s a great work-out whether you’re running or just walking the dog. And it’s worth ascending for the beautiful views! Have I mentioned how amazing it smells up here in these woods?! WOW!! It’s incredible.
Hiking Owl’s Head Mountain is also such a treat. First of all, it’s almost a straight upwards climb through boulders, rocks, and forest. And when you make it to the top, your reward is one of the most amazing views of the High Peaks. Just outstanding! It takes about an hour if you are trekking fast and 2 hours if you take your time.
For more scenic views, try Mount Marcy. The tallest mountain in New York, Mount Marcy has several rewarding trails for more experienced hikers.
The 15 mile-long Primary Trailhead passes by Marcy Dam, which has excellent views of the High Peaks, follows Phelps Brook and culminates in a moderate ascent from Indian Falls to the tree line.
High Falls Gorge is a wonderful family friendly option. The 30 minute walk takes hikers around four majestic waterfalls, and educational signage along the way illuminates the region’s natural history, geology, and forestry.
Come see what upstate has to offer! Book GO-Cottage this summer to take in all the Adirondacks’ glorious hiking trails.
