Like the season’s first fresh blanket of snow, there is something soothing about the start of a new year approaching. In this case, I think most of us are looking forward to this particular year ending. While we are still in the midst of the pandemic, 2021 is offering us glimmers of hope: a vaccine and, here in the US, a new administration.
In some ways, the pandemic forced us into resolutions months ago, as we adjusted to a new reality and had to figure out new ways to stay afloat. For some, this took the form of increased exercise, meditation and engaging in new hobbies.
As we transition into 2021, it’s important to take stock of our values: what has made us feel happy and peaceful during this time. (With any luck) we may have the opportunity in 2021 to return to some of our pre-pandemic activities.
So remember to continue being thankful for what you have. Give credit to yourself for doing the best you can do. And keep finding ways to incorporate connection with friends and family — and connection with yourself — into a potentially busier schedule.
Wishing you a happy and hopeful New Year from GO-Cottage.
